Forget mild, sweet honeys that have nothing to say. Zumzz Chestnut brings the dark amber depth of true chestnut-forest flavours - a strong aroma, a gentle bitterness on the finish and more minerals than any light honey. One teaspoon in the morning. Feel the difference.

What makes it different

What the industry takes away — we leave in.

Raw and unpasteurised — enzymes stay alive

Never heated above hive temperature. Thanks to its high fructose content, chestnut honey stays liquid longer than most varieties — no heating, no loss of enzymes and nutrients.

  • Never heated above hive temperature
  • Slow crystallisation — liquid for months
  • All enzymes and antioxidants intact

From the chestnut forests of Croatia

Bees collect nectar exclusively from the flowers of chestnut trees. You know exactly who stands behind every jar — a known beekeeper, a known forest, no imported blends.

Real reviews from our customers

Have questions? We have answers.

Everything you need to know about Zumzz Chestnut honey — in one place.

Why is Zumzz Chestnut more expensive than supermarket honey? +

Supermarket honey goes through pasteurisation at 70–80°C and fine filtering — processes that make honey visually appealing and extend shelf life, but destroy enzymes, pollen, propolis and antioxidants. Zumzz Chestnut is raw, minimally filtered and straight from the hive. You're buying honey as it is — not marketing packed into a jar.

How long does one jar last and how is it stored? +

Natural honey actually does not expire — historians have found honey thousands of years old that was perfectly edible. Stored properly in a dry and dark place, Zumzz Chestnut is excellent for years. Recommended consumption: 1–2 teaspoons a day. A 450g jar lasts 3–4 months of daily use, a 900g one about 6–8 months.

What does chestnut honey pair best with? +

Chestnut honey is excellent:
• With hard and semi-hard cheeses (pecorino, manchego, aged gouda) — a gourmet combination that needs no chef
• In lukewarm tea instead of sugar — depth of flavour without empty calories
• Drizzled over Greek yoghurt with walnuts — an ideal breakfast
• Straight off the spoon in the morning — a quick ritual that gives the body minerals before the day begins

What if my honey crystallises? +

Crystallisation is not a defect — it's proof the honey is real and unprocessed. Pasteurised honey rarely crystallises, and that's exactly what reveals it has gone through industrial processes. When your Zumzz Chestnut crystallises, place the jar in a warm water bath (max. 40°C) and stir slowly. Never use a microwave — a temperature above 40°C irreversibly destroys the enzymes and nutritional value that made you buy this honey in the first place.
